Client overview
A large construction e-shop needed a controlled move to Shoptet Premium.
WOODCOTE has operated in Slovakia since 1994 and ranks among the top three companies in its sector. It has 45+ branches and a portfolio of more than 250,000 products from 500 brands. Its e-shop needed to handle a wide assortment, internal processes and both professional and retail customers. This was not a small redesign, but a migration of a large e-commerce system to Shoptet Premium.
Challenge + goals
Reduce the catalogue by 96% without losing organic traffic.
Woodcote needed to move to Shoptet Premium without interrupting key e-commerce operations. The largest technical part was connecting the e-shop to its own ERP and reliably transferring product, price and availability data. The largest SEO challenge was catalogue migration: reducing 50,000 products to 2,000 active items without losing organic traffic.
- Launch the new Shoptet Premium e-shop within 4 months.
- Set up the custom ERP integration so it could handle products, prices, availability and operational data.
- Reduce the product catalogue from 50,000 to 2,000 products without a drop in organic traffic.
- Improve website speed by 60% and create a stable base for further e-shop development.
Pain points
Where digital communication was hitting limits.
01
Custom ERP
The e-shop had to communicate with the client's internal system and keep prices, stock and product data consistent.
02
Radical catalogue reduction
From the original volume of 50,000 products, only 2,000 items remained, which required clear mapping, redirects and prioritization.
03
Organic traffic protection
With such a large structural change, it was critical to preserve the signals that generated organic traffic.
Solutions and delivery
ERP, catalogue migration and SEO continuity in one controlled transition.
We treated the project as a controlled migration, not a simple template move. First, we divided the project into three workstreams: catalogue, data integrations and SEO risks. We then prepared a Shoptet Premium implementation aligned with Woodcote’s operational processes.
Migration architecture and ERP
We defined the data flow between the ERP and Shoptet Premium so products, prices, availability and operational information could be transferred safely.
Product mapping and SEO continuity
We handled the catalogue through priority product selection, category mapping, redirects and metadata checks so the product reduction would not translate into lost organic traffic.
Performance, QA and launch
Before launch we worked on speed, responsive rendering, product templates, the checkout path and checks of critical pages across desktop and mobile.
E-shop previews
The migration had to work across the homepage, categories and product details.
Product detail
The product page had to preserve availability, prices, purchase actions and the information structure connected to internal data.
Categories after migration
We shaped categories so they stayed readable for both customers and search engines after the assortment reduction.
Growth
A faster e-shop, preserved organic traffic and a cleaner catalogue.
- 4 months
- Shoptet Premium migration delivery
- 50,000 → 2,000
- products after controlled catalogue reduction
- preserved
- organic traffic after migration
- +60%
- website speed improvement
Note: We will add the client testimonial once it has been approved.
Key findings
- A large e-shop migration to Shoptet Premium can move quickly when the data model, ERP integration and SEO risks are handled together from the beginning.
- Reducing a catalogue from 50,000 to 2,000 products does not have to mean losing organic traffic when product priorities, categories and redirects are prepared systematically.
- A 60% speed improvement created a noticeably stronger technical base for future e-shop performance.
Conclusion
Woodcote received a new Shoptet Premium e-shop in 4 months, connected to its own ERP, with a much smaller and cleaner catalogue, preserved organic traffic and a faster website. The project showed the value of managing technical migration, SEO and operational data as one system during a large e-commerce migration.
